(2004/09/22) v3.0.1 released !
- From now on, BBMan has two version : full & nossh. The "full" version has full functionality (SSH / SFTP / BBS / Telnet), and "nossh" version has only BBS / Telnet functionality.
- It seems that in some environment (ex. OpenSSH 3.81 with OpenSSL 0.9.7d ) BBMan has some authentication problem with SSH server, it means that in some environment you can't login to SSH server. It will be fixed if the libssh author fix it.
- Fix some problem with "Favotes Editor" and "Favotes" menu.
- Enable the [Enter] key in the numpad.
- Fix problem when "copy plain text" (it prefix "0[m" to each line in v3.0).
(2004/09/14) Sorry for the imcomplete of this page, such as the libeay32.dll link, and the incomplete information about how to make a ssh connection. If you want to connect SSH server in BBMan, Please enter ssh://your.host.ip in the [menu]->[Quick Connection] , or the TextBox on the toolbar, or you can try menu [Favorite] -> [Edit favorite] directly using address your.host.ip without prefix ssh:// . BUT if you connect SSH without specify username, then program will show a InputBox to ask your username. SORRY or the InputBox that I just found there has BIG5 character (taiwan language), I'm not very sure that if it will crash because of this under Linux/FreeBSD. If it will crash, I'll put the newer version in a week or so. ;)
(2004/09/14) AND you can open SFTP window in the menu [Tool]->[Show SFTP Window]. Just as what I said, BBMan v3.0 is the first version that I put the SSH / SFTP feature in it, so there will be some problem in SSH/SFTP, but I think the problem will not too be serious, and I will try to solve these problem as soon as possible. :)
(2004/09/14) The libssh author just fix a bug yesterday, this will make you open the SFTP Window faster. In a week or so I will put the new version.

And it will be better if you talk with me with easier English, to ensure that I can understand what you mean in email. If you don't know how to use BBMan, PLEASE let me know, and I will be glad to help you using BBMan, and I will add some information I forgot to put on both this webpage and the program BBMan.

Features

You can connect to SSH server. (Please add the prefix ssh:// , for example, enter ssh://your.server.ip as adderss )
BBMan also provide a GUI for you to transfer files using SFTP (under SSH on the server you connect). You can also perform file-manipulation, such as rename/delete/mkdir/cd, just like most FTP client does.
support Windows / Linux / FreeBSD platforms
BBMan can help you auto-login and auto-connect when startup.
Support tabbed-window, this means that you can connected to many servers at the same time.
In SSH / sftp connections, all the data are compressed and encrypted (of course).
You can create new account in BBMan, and you can have your own settings and favorites list. And nobody can use your favorites list if he knows your password to log in BBMan. All the password are encrypted then save to profile.
BBMan can also connect to BBS server, with many features that is useful in BBS. If you are interested in theses features, please visit Taiwan-version webpage for more details.

Security

Over the SFTP, all the data are transferred under SSH, that is, all the data will be encrypted.
You can pre-enter your password so you don't need to enter your password each time you log in. Of course, you can establish your own account on the BBMan to prevent anyone knowing your password or login with your account. Your password will be encrypted when BBMan save it to profile.
You can also hide BBMan when you leave your seat for a moment, to prevent anybody issue any command via your account.

Who need BBMan ?

People who often need to connect two or more SSH servers at the same time.
People who need to upload / download files to / from the SSH server they connected, hoping that nobody knows what they transfered.
People who are lazy for remembering all the password, but still concern the security issue.

Known bugs

If you like the BBMan, PLEASE HELP me fix some problems in BBMan (Please see the "HELP" section below).
There are still a few terminal-protocol code that BBMan can't parse it. But it won't make world too bad. In fact, I have tested the SSH on some popular Linux distro. such as Mandrake, Fedora core, FreeBSD, and SunOS, and it works good almost the time. I hope anybody can help me to fill all the terminal-protocol problem. Please see the Development section. I think this will be fixed soon if anyone have such domain-knowledge and be willing to help me.

In Linux/FreeBSD, BBMan can't directly paste text from other program. This is caused by wxWidgets. Please use [Edit]->[Input line] instead, and paste the text you copied to the popup window.

If you like the BBMan, PLEASE HELP me fix some problems in BBMan ;)
There are still a few terminal-protocol code that BBMan can't parse it.
- If anybody knows about it, you can press [F3] when connecting to SSH server. The [F3] turn on/off debug mode. When turn on it, all the data in shell will show in a message box. You can use it to see which terminal-code that BBMan didn't handle it well, and tell me what these terminal-code mean or patch it directly :)
- For example, you can tell me that ^[[3@ means "insert 3 characters" and so on.
- All the terminal-protocol handling code are in SCD_Terminal::parse() in src/scd_terminal.cpp, about 350 lines. Sorry for most of the comments are Traditional-Chinese (Big5) characters, I will modify it if I'm free.
In Linux/FreeBSD, BBMan can't copy/paste text to/from other program. This is caused by wxWidgets. Although BBMan now use some not-very-well method to solve this problem, I hope there is someone can help wxWidgets to solve it.
Because I don't have MacOS X, so if anyone know how to port BBMan to MacOS X with wxWidgets that BBMan use, Please help me :)

Note	From v3.0.1, BBMan has two version : "full" and "nossh". The "full" version has all the functionality for SSH / SFTP / Telnet / BBS. It needs "libeay32.dll" for Windows, and "openssl" "openssl-devel" packages in Linux / FreeBSD. The "nossh" version has only "BBS / Telnet" function. It is designed for Asian who only use BBMan to connect BBS server.
